Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus), concerns have been raised regarding public social gatherings. As part of the State of Minnesota’s declaration of a peacetime state of emergency this afternoon, it was strongly suggested that large gatherings where close contact is unavoidable be canceled or postponed.

Nominations for the five seats open on the Lead Pack for terms from 2020 until 2022 closed at the Lead Pack’s meeting on December 18, 2019. Four nominations were received.
Because there were fewer nominations than open seats, the Lead Pack reviewed the nominations received and voted on whether to accept each candidate. All four candidates were appointed.

After the success of the 2019 North Star Puppy and Handler (NSPAH) Weekend, the Lead Pack voted unanimously to begin planning the 2020 North Star Puppy and Handler Contests at its April 2019 meeting. Sir Randy, who led the 2019 planning committee, was elected as chair of a permanent planning committee which was also created.
